4 Top Reasons to Visit the Arch During Spring

Visiting the famous Gateway Arch is a must-see attraction while staying in St. Louis. While you can see this iconic landmark any time of the year, springtime is the best season. Not only is the weather perfect, affording you gorgeous views, but there are many other events taking place in St. Louis to participate in after you have taken a tour of the Arch. Let’s look at four reasons why visiting the Gateway Arch in the spring is the best time.
The Views From the Arch Are Spectacular With Clear Skies
One of the most iconic landmarks gracing the St. Louis, Missouri, skyline is the famous Gateway Arch. The 630-foot monument, built in 1963, is one of the most famous man-made monuments in the world.
When you enter the base of the Arch, you are invited into the beautiful visitors center where you can take the time to learn about the history of the design and build of the Arch. From there, you enter into one of the trams that takes you to the top where you will see spectacular sweeping views of the Mississippi River and the lovely and historic city of St. Louis.
Participate in the St. Patricks’ Day Parade
St. Louis hosts a huge three-day St. Patrick’s Day Irish-themed event every year in the middle of March. You can enjoy a formal evening of dinner and entertainment the night before the parade and fuel up for the five-mile run that takes place before the parade itself.
This huge event with dinner, the run, and the parade normally attracts over 8,000 participants annually and is a fun way to see the downtown St. Louis area. The St. Louis St. Patrick’s Day Parade is one of the largest in the United States and you can see hundreds of floats, marching bands, and plenty of marchers.
Visit Purina Farms for Springtime Festivities
Pack up the car and take the entire family to the famous Purina Farms Springtime Village event which is held annually in mid-April. Springtime is when the Purina Farms animals give birth and they will be on display and available for the kids to pet.
The family can learn about farm animals and take a wagon ride around the farm, and even try their hand at milking a cow. The kids can also get their faces painted with cute designs and have their photo taken with Peter Cottontail.
Take in a Baseball Game at Busch Stadium
Busch Stadium is home to the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and springtime is the perfect season to watch a live baseball game. The stadium is built right in the heart of downtown St. Louis and the views of the Gateway Arch and downtown St. Louis are beautiful from the ball field. Before the game, take a tour through the handsome stadium and see old game posters and memorabilia in reference to the St. Louis Cardinals team.
The weather is perfect during the spring with pretty clear skies, which makes the views from the Gateway Arch beautiful and dramatic, and there are plenty of fun events taking place during the spring to keep you well-entertained during your visit.
