5 Things to do Near St. Louis this weekend
Chinese Buddhist Art, 10th-15th Centuries
Would you believe that this art exhibition has an actual wall that an artist painted? The Saint Louis Art Museum has just that, a six by four-foot section of a temple wall with a painting of Bodhisattva Akalokiteśvara. The exhibition also includes multiple hanging scrolls and a collection of wooden sculptures of a seated arhat, or the Buddhist name for someone who has become enlightened. This exhibition is open Tuesday through Sunday (March 30 to August 30) in gallery 225 of the Saint Louis art museum. Visit www.slam.org for more information. Admission is free and it’s a great place to spend the day with family or friends.
